Awhile back I received a crowdfunding campaign message about a 2 cd album being created in support of Postcards For Peace. They are a group I’ve heard about before, I think they do really wonderful work so I checked it out and decided to contribute a little bit. That little bit got me the gift of  the cd and a postcard.

They arrived yesterday by post as promised, with a simple Thank You hand written on the flap of the envelope.

It came, as with most things really,  perfect timing. What better way to wind down the last few days of 2016, certainly in truth not my favourite year overall, and begin what I believe will be a phenomenally amazing 2017. How am I going to do that? By I’m holding onto a world of hope every minute of every day.

As I write I’m sitting here listening to We’ve Got It All by Peter James Millson and now Fiddle or a Gun by Oysterband just came on. The album is a beautiful complication of a somewhat eclectic group of artists coming together for peace. I like that idea. Breeze Redwine brought me to tears with her beautiful piece Courage. I can tell that as I listen to these beautiful heartfelt pieces, each will find a way to uniquely entwine themselves into my heart. There’s something about the cover art that just makes me want to smile and find a park to sit in for awhile. Maybe even write a post card or two… with a message for peace.

Check it out at Postcards For Peace shopping page:

“In support of international charity Postcards For Peace, whose goal is to end discrimination and violence through education, twenty six incredible musicians have contributed songs to create a truly beautiful album.

The title, A World of Hope, comes from the lyrics to Jo Hamilton’s ‘There It Is’ (one of the first tracks contributed to the project) and it is a fitting name for an album that features 26 songs of war and peace, of hope and of love, of living life to the full, of not giving up and of having the courage to face adversity.

It includes acts that have truly earned the right to be called legends, Grammy award nominees, multiple BBC Folk Award winners, acts that have enjoyed chart success and artists that spend their lives travelling the world to get their music heard. From octogenarian Peggy Seeger to teenager Breeze Redwine, every single one of the artists has donated a track to this album because they want to help build a world in which people care for other human beings without discrimination, prejudice, violence and hate.”

Happy New Year everyone. We wish each and every one of you a most amazing 2017. No matter what it holds, or even what it doesn’t hold make it great because you can. See the beauty, live the kindness, be the change and most importantly – simply be you. Because you are truly amazing. Even if sometimes you don’t see it in yourself. Unique and human, each and every one of us and there is nothing more amazing, magical and miraculous than that. Be Flawsome embrace your flaw – know you are awesome no in spite of them, but because off them – today and everyday.

You Matter – Hope – Today and Everyday

Our hearts break for all the people who have experienced tragedy and there has been far too much to even begin to bear lately. The stories that we know and even the many stories that we don’t (since plenty of tragedy happens that isn’t quite tragic enough to make the front page), bring us to our knees today in grief and horror at what we as humans can do to each other for absolutely no reason. And I mean absolutely no reason. We can pretend there are reasons. We can choose to take sides, believe one is right, just and good while the other one is wrong, unjust and bad. But in reality it is truly unreasonable, and in honesty unfathomable, the lengths we achieve, to cause harm in the name of reason.

Instead, may tragedy serve to bring us closer together, treat each other with kind compassion as we continue to work tirelessly and fearlessly to make our world a better place in spite of the hatred and intolerance that rears it’s ugly head.

I only have to choose how events like these will affect me. Will I use them to feel defeated or use them to propel myself forward, to action, to making a difference?  The choice is mine. The choice is yours. We all need to choose, and choose wisely.

I will make sense of the senseless by my choices. I will not hate – I will love, I will not give up – I will persevere. I will soften my heart and I will simply strive to do all I can, where I am, all the time, every day.

IF WE WANT THERE TO BE PEACE IN THE WORLD, WE HAVE TO BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO SOFTEN WHAT IS RIGID IN OUR HEARTS, TO FIND THE SOFT SPOT AND STAY WITH IT. WE HAVE TO HAVE THAT KIND OF COURAGE AND TAKE THAT KIND OF RESPONSIBILITY. THAT’S THE TRUE PRACTICE OF PEACE. – Pema Chodron from Practising Peace In Times Of War

I hope yours is too.

Wizard of Oz – Glinda

I subscribe to Mike Dooley’s Notes From The Universe. Five days a week I get a wonderfully inspirational email that never disappoints. I’m always uplifted, always inspired and motivated.

Personally I believe we get messages all the time.  You can say from the Universe, or God, or your higher self or whatever feels right to you. Maybe you think life is all about fate or destiny. It doesn’t really matter.  I believe if you are still and pay attention, lessons and opportunities abound.

A few months ago I received this message from TUT in my inbox.

Within any clearly imagined dream, far beyond the curtains of time and space, lies the intelligence and energy to choreograph the entire sequence of events necessary to make it manifest as soon as possible.

And if you physically move towards that dream, demonstrating both faith and belief, making yourself available to “accidents and coincidences,” not insisting on the hows and rolling with what may come, the sequence is permitted to play itself out.

Understand, however, that since you will only perceive this sequence with your physical senses upon a linear time line, it will likely seem that much of your journey doesn’t make sense, is unpredictable, or may even appear off-course.

Yeah, you’re crushing it right about now –
    The Universe

This resonated completely with me.  So much so I printed off a copy which I just came across today.  It resonated all over again, but with a new twist. At the time I had wondered why it so often still feels difficult to move towards a dream for so many people.

Recently I’ve realized the answer to my question.  Too many people have forgotten how to dream.  They don’t believe in dreaming. They are afraid to dream because they’ve come to believe that their dreams can’t come true.

They’ve failed to see that the real problem is that they’ve been doing the same thing over and over and over and over but expecting different results. It’s not the dream that’s the problem, it’s the approach to achieving it. And maybe in some cases the dream is the problem.  Sometimes we can be so fixated on what we think is our dream we miss all the messages that say maybe something better awaits us.

I hear so often “I don’t know what I want.” or “It doesn’t matter anyway.” or “What’s the point, it never worked before.” or “I can’t change.” or “It’s too late.”

When really, all you have to do is adjust your gaze a little.  See the same landscape, but with new eyes.  Demonstrate a little faith and belief. Don’t panic. Don’t shrink. And before you know it, you’ll start to see change.  Maybe big, maybe small, but if you open your eyes, and open your mind, you’ll see it. And you might just find out that dreams do come true.  Sometimes even better than you even imagined.

Dare ya, dream big.  Really big. Gigantic even.

The Universe is right, yeah, we’re crushing it right about now.

I woke up this morning feeling that everything was just perfectly right with the world.  I really don’t know how else to describe it. If I was a religious person I suppose I would use the word blessed.

images-3

On the surface there was no special reason to.  It was grey and cool, not a real Lake feeling Saturday. I thought I was going to have to rush to be ready. But still, I woke up with this incredibly peaceful, safe, comfortable feeling, even though I wasn’t snuggled into my sheets. I actually was reaching for a blanket because I was rather cold. I couldn’t shake the feeling, the desire to smile. The desire to sigh in delight, almost ecstasy.  That is not often me in the morning.

But why fight it? We needed the rain desperately. The cool morning means I don’t have to rush, just have to keep moving. It’s a good Saturday. I’m alive, I’m breathing, I’m smiling, I’m moving, I have all the necessities in life and if I’m honest, way more of the other stuff than I could ever really need. I’ve got great family, I’ve got enough money to pay my bills and feed myself. I’ve got one of the best places on the earth to live. I’ve got fresh air to breath, the wind has taken the forest fire smoke elsewhere and thankfully some of those fires are finally under control. I’ve got berries growing right outside my door that are plump and juicy and sweet. I’ve got a garden that is lush and green and just beginning to bear it’s fruits.

Hmmm… I guess even on the surface, it IS a pretty good morning to feel that all is right with the world. Because right now, in my little corner, it’s all really good.

This weekend, kick back, relax and take a moment or many moments to actually see what’s right with the world or count your blessings. You just might be surprised at how many you find, from simple to amazing.

Happy weekend everyone.

Nailed it! Choose to notice.  Exactly.

I posted If Only the other day and now your great read seems the perfect reminder to be conscious and notice what’s around.  Choose what we give our attention too, and what better place to start than “LOVE”.   Thanks.

IMG_1339If ever you should feel a horrid sense of destruction, if the world bothers you with its inability to feel compassion, if you leap towards moments of anger in confrontation, if you should ever desire the pain of your adversary, if you should ever condone the hardship of another because they deserve it, if you should ever cling to a cringe because it makes the day more interesting, then just take a peek at this picture. These are moments of love and compassion that we as humans fail to take notice of enough.

We love hearing the nightly news spew its bothersome stories of man killing man, we love hearing the….(God, don’t make me use this word!)….the “drama” that some people become involved in. Yet, rarely do we take notice of moments of love.

Never dismiss that. Never roll your eyes when you see public displays of affection, when you…
